The Best Novell of 1953 by Hugo Awards was The Demolished Man of Alfred Bester.

History:

The history take place in the year 2032 in the city of New York.

In the future wrote by Alfred Bester the world was full of "Espers", people able to read minds in different levels of deep. 

The "Espers" are presents in that society in different roles, from sales man in a book store to read the mind of the customers and offer the best gift option...and policeman with the target to solve crimes.

No all humans have this gift, of read minds, and between the "Espers" there are different levels of power: Level 1, 2 and 3. In the Level 1: the "Esper" have the major power to read minds, and its able to  read the sub concious layer of other person.

In this society, the premeditated murders was eliminated, since an "Esper"always manages to realize his intention before you are able to kill someone. But a billionaire man, troubled by nightmares, plan and execute a murder, and from this the whole story will follow at a pace of a thriller.

Characters

Ben Reich:
Millionaire owner of a mega company: Monarch. Disturbed by constant nightmares with a faceless man, thinks he has a special killer instinct .

Lincoln Powell:
Police responsible for investigating a murder case. And a Level 1 Esper.

My Opinion:

From 0 to 10 my note here is 7.

The book caught my attention many times, and in very few parts was exhausting to read. But still it was not surprising, and at many points seemed naive and superficial.
Furthermore, the final could be better.

A melhor novela do ano de 1953 segundo Hugo Awards foi The Demolished Man de Alfred Bester.

Resumo:

A historia se passa em 2032 na cidade de Nova York.

Neste futuro de Alfred Bester o mundo esta repleto de “Espers” pessoas dotadas da capacidade de ler mentes.

Os “Espers” estão presentes naquela sociedade em diferentes funções, desde vendedores capazes de lerem a mente de seus clientes para oferecer o produto certo, ate policiais devotados a resolverem algum crime.

Nem todos os humanos tem esta capacidade, e mesmo entre os “Espers” existem diferentes níveis: 1, 2 e 3, onde o nível 1 tem a maior capacidade de leitura da mente, sendo capaz de captar o sub consciente de uma pessoa.

Nesta sociedade os assassinatos premeditados foram eliminados, uma vez que um “Esper” sempre consegue perceber sua intenção. Mas um rico empresário, perturbado por pesadelos, planeja e executa um homicídio e a partir disso toda a historia vai seguir em ritmo de um romance policial.

Os Personagens

Ben Reich:
Milionario dono de uma mega empresa: Monarch. Perturbado com pesadelos constantes com um homem sem rosto, julga ter um instinto assassino especial.

Lincoln Powel:
Policial responsavel por investigar um caso de assassinato. E um Esper nivel 1.

Minha Opinião:

De 0 a 10 dou nota 7.

O livro prendeu minha atenção muitas vezes, e em pouquíssimas partes foi cansativo de se ler. Mas ainda assim não foi surpreendente, e em muitos pontos me pareceu ingênuo e superficial.

Além disso, o fim podia ser melhor J.


O Autor:

Alfred Bester nasceu em Nova York, cidade que ambienta seu livro. Estudou Direito na Universidade da Pennsylvania, mas abandonou o curso.


Morreu em 12 de Janeiro de 1984
